WEEK THREE
African American Heritage House (AAHH) Lecture Series: Imagining a More Inclusive Chautauqua: A discussion with Amit Taneja, Erroll Davis, and Ted First
***The African American Heritage House is sorry to announce that, due to scheduling conflicts, Senator Raphael Warnock will NOT be joining us for this week’s AAHH lecture series.***
Instead, please join us online at CHQ Assembly on Friday, July 16 at 1:00 pm EDT for our third program of the 2021 Summer Assembly Season. We are pleased to present Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Officer Amit Taneja, AAHH President Erroll Davis, and AAHH board member Ted First for a talk entitled Imagining a More Inclusive Chautauqua.
Join us to get acquainted with Amit Taneja, Chautauqua Institution’s first-ever Chief IDEA Officer, as he describes his new role at Chautauqua and what that role can bring to the African American Heritage House. Come prepared to learn what all Chautauquans can do to make Chautauqua a more welcoming place for marginalized people from all walks of life.
Ted First and Erroll Davis will elaborate on the work of African American Heritage House and the opportunities and challenges the AAHH faces in its work at Chautauqua. They will discuss AAHH's role in supporting the archival research that unsurfaced the history of African Americans here at Chautauqua. They will also share details of the upcoming commemoration ceremony for the Phillis Wheatley Cottage scheduled for July 21 to memorialize this history.
We encourage our live audience to submit questions for the Q&A portion of the discussion through the submission portal at questions.chq.org.
AAHH lectures will remain available on the CHQ Assembly Platform assembly.chq.org and will also be archived on the AAHH website AAHeritageHouse.org a few days after the presentation.
